Teaching
I teach piano to children (from the age of 7 upwards) and adults at my home in South East London. I work with all levels from beginners to advanced and all styles from classical to jazz.
My philosophy centres around developing a strong base of overall musicianship skills and fostering a love of music making. The children I teach learn how to read music, play by ear and improvise, and their creativity and musical ability is nurtured through the use of carefully chosen repertoire that is engaging and invites the use of the imagination.
Everything must be built upon a strong technical foundation and good habits need to be reinforced from the very beginning. This allows the students to develop the confidence to truly express themselves, and to explore the music to its fullest.
ONLINE LESSONS AVAILABLE
Students say that my lessons are engaging, stimulating and thoroughly enjoyable, and as every pupil is unique and has different motivations, goals and needs, I specifically tailor lessons to suit each individual.
My aims in teaching are that the student discovers a life-long love of of music making, develops sound musicianship skills and that they connect with the musicality within themselves- and the results speak (or sing!) for themselves...

Testimonials:
''Sharon is a great piano teacher. Thanks to her our daughter (who is 9) has achieved not only great progress, but also love for the instrument and a growing sense of over all musicality. We are very happy to have her and would recommend her to everyone without a doubt.''
Rob and Marina, Lewisham
''I came to Sharon as a beginner six months ago. She tailored her teaching to suit me and has been enthusiastic and supportive since then. I feel like I've been making consistent progress and it's been really rewarding. Highly recommended. Lovely person, great musician and a fab teacher.''
Lawrence, Beckenham.
''My 7-year-old daughter has always had a passionate interest for music...At the beginning of the year, she asked to take some piano lessons...Sharon has been teaching piano to my daughter for the past 4 months and I can honestly say we both enjoy this new experience. I found Sharon’s teaching approach a lot more fun and subtle (my daughter learns without realising it) than the previous teacher. That being said, Sharon is clear on the fact that practicing on regular basis is really important should you wish to progress. I would definitively recommend entering into Sharon’s music universe!''
''Sharon is a great piano teacher. My son is really enjoying his lessons with her. The books she picked for my son are fantastic and brilliant for young kids. Sharon is always punctual and communicates well with me and I would highly recommend her.''

''My son started learning piano one year ago with Sharon. She is so patient and passionate, and she handles him so well, he really enjoys it. She carefully chose lesson book specifically for him each time, and he likes it. The greatest thing is Sharon’s lesson increased his enthusiasm to piano, he plays piano everyday without my reminder. Sharon is a wonderful piano teacher , I am so glad I found her!''
